SNS, SILIGURI, 7 OCTOBER 2020: A 55-year-old resident of Jalpaiguri dist rict died in the designated hospital for Covid patients at Matigara in Siliguri today, sources said.

Meanwhile, 100 fresh Covid- 19 cases were detected in Darjeeling district today, including 48 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, five in Kharibari, two in Kurseong Municipality, eight in Sukna, 11 in Matigara, three in Mirik, 13 in Naxalbari, six in Phansidewa, three in Pulbazaar/Bijanbari and one in Takdah, sources said. Also today, 19 cases were detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC. On the other hand, 38 patients were discharged today from hospitals and home isolation.
84 in Maida
In Malda, the spike in new cases continued today with 84 fresh cases detected, sources said. Almost 700 cases have been found in the last seven days, even as crowds in the markets are swelling ahead of the Pujas.
89 in Alipurduar
Alipurduar district recorded 69 fresh cases in the past 24 hours.
