Three die in Siliguri Covid hosp

64 cases in Darj district- 18 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation-91. patients discharged,
SNS, SILIGURI, 20 SEPTEMBER 2020 : Two Siliguri residents and a patient from North dinajpur district died in t he Desun (Covid) Hospital at Kawakhali in Siliguri today.
Sources said a 68-year-old resident of Pradhannagar, who was admitted in the Covid-designated hospital on 19 September, was one of the two persons who died today.
Another patient was a 64 year-old resident of Bhaktinagar area, who was admitted in the hospital on the same day after being referred from another dedicated hospital at Matigara, Dr Chhang's Hospital.The 50-year-old resident of North Dinajpur district was admitted in the hospital yesterday, sources said.
64 cases in Darj district
Darjeeling district recorded 64 new cases in thepast 24 hours, including 18 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) areas, seven in Darjeeling Municipality, three in Kharibari, one in Kurseong Municipality, three in Sukna, 12 in Matigara 19 in Naxalbari, and one in Sukhia Pokhari, sources said.
The portion in SMC under Jalpaiguri district recorded 17 cases, they added.
A total of 91. patients were discharged, including those in home isolation today, sources said.
76 in Maida
In MaIda, another 76 fresh cases were found in tests conducted in the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital last night, sources said. Officials and the general public have started to worry as the number of infections has continued to he above 50 every day. It may be mentioned here that Malda district consistently reported less than 50 cases for almost 20 days in a row in the recent past, before the cases started to rise again.
The fresh cases were from various blocks, while English Bazaar had 11 cases and Bamongola nine, sources said.
39 in South Dinajpur
Meanwhile, in South Dinajpur, the rate of infection has gradually gone down, while only 39 new patients were detected in the district in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases in the district has gone up to 4769 now.
"A total of 48 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. Among the fresh cases are 11 in the Balurghat Municipality area. On the other hand,1469 samples were tested in the past 24 hours," sources said.
According to them, the total number of patients discharged from hospitals so far stand at 4459. It may be mentioned that South Dinajpur has de-notified all containment zones in the district, while all restrictions have been lifted.
