KalimNews, Kalimpong, 31 May 2020: 68th day of national lockdown-India witnessed a highest spike of 8380 fresh coronavirus cases which is 416 more than the highest cases of May 30 (7,964 cases), May 29 (7,466 cases).
India faced an alarming rise in new cases a week before, it had consecutively registered the number of new cases as follows: May 30 (7,964 cases), May 29 (7,466 cases), May 25 (6,977 cases), May 24 (6,767 cases), May 23 (6,654 cases), May 22 (6,088 cases), May 20 (5,611 cases), May 21 (5,609) and May 18 (5,242 cases).
As per PTI report, the fourth phase of the coronavirus-triggered lockdown, which began on May 18, saw 85,974 COVID-19 cases till 8 am on Sunday, which is nearly half of the total cases reported in the country so far. It is also 8 times more than the registered cases of Phase I of lockdown.
Lockdown 4.0, which will end on May 31 midnight, has accounted for 47.20 per cent of the total coronavirus infection cases, number-crunching from the Union Health Ministry data reveals.
The lockdown, which was first clamped on March 25 and spanned for 21 days, had registered 10,877 cases, while the second phase of the curbs that began on April 15 and stretched for 19 days till May 3, saw 31,094 cases. The third phase of the lockdown that was in effect for 14 days ending on May 17, recorded 53,636 cases till 8 am of May 18. I

The fifth phase of a nationwide lockdown rather say unlockdown-1 starts from June 1, allowing hotels, restaurants and shopping malls to open, besides permitting all inter and intra-state movement of public and goods.
Globally, about 6 million people have been infected with Covid-19, including 3,66,875 deaths. The United States, at 1,03,353 deaths, is the worst-affected country.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s latest data released, the total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,82,143 including 89,995 active cases and 193 deaths in the last 24 hours. As many as 86,894 people have been cured/discharged. The death toll has reached 5,164.
After the first confirmed positive case was reported on January 30 in Kerala, the epidemic has expanded its footprints in the country, affecting more than 1.25 lakh people.
The country is under lockdown since 25th March and it has been extended till 31st May 2020 in four phases. Today is the eleventh day of the fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Today record number of 4614 patients were released after recovery (1 day before-11264, 2 days before-3414) that tally 86984 (1 day before-82370, 2 days before-71106) that is 42.45 per cent of patients have recovered which is a very good result.
Within the last 24 hours 89995 active cases (1 day before-86422, 2 days before-89987) is recorded. Today there are 8380 new cases (1 day before-7964, 2 days before-7466) and 182143 confirmed cases (1 day before-173763, 2 days before-165799) is recorded.
Maharashtra still remains the worst-hit state of the country with 65168 confirmed cases (1 day before-62228, 2 days before-59546), 2197 death (1 day before-2098, 2 days before-1982) and 28081 recovery (1 day before-26997, 2 days before-18616).
Tamilnadu is the second highest with 21184 confirmed cases (1 day before-20246, 2 days before-19372) and 160 death (1 day before-154, 2 days before-145) and 12000 recovery (1 day before-11313, 2 days before-10548).
Delhi is again in the third position with highest increase of cases observed, with 18549 confirmed cases (1 day before-17386, 2 days before- 18281),8075 recovery (1 day before- 7846, 2 days before- 7495), and 416 death (1 day before-398, 2 days before- 316).
Gujrat, is in the fourth position and has 16343 confirmed cases (1 day before-15934, 2 days before 15562) and 1007 death (1 day before-, 2 days before-938) and 9230 recovery (1 day before-960, 2 days before-7549) and release from Hospital.
