KalimNews, Kalimpong, 26 May 2020:
Covid patient delivered baby at NBMCH: Doctors of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for the first time performed a medical feat by delivering a child whose mother was detected to be Covid-19 positive. A 32-year-old COVID-19 positive pregnant woman from Atal Village of Naxalbari gave birth to a healthy baby girl at NBMCH this morning. The successful childbirth has become a cause of jubilance not only for the family but for doctors and healthcare workers who are striving to save lives in the face of a worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
She had visited Naxalbari hospital on 24th May and on the same day she was admitted in the isolation ward of NBMCH. Her swab test was done yesterday and in the night time it was found that she is positive to Covid 19. This morning she gave birth to a baby girl who too will be tested for Covid-19. The team of doctors and nurses performed the delivery successfully and both the mother and the baby is keeping well. This lady didnot have any travel history and this has raised question regarding her source of infection. She will probably be referred to Dr. Changs. Covid hospital. Her contact doctors and nurses are sent for quarantine.
