Woman seeking job lured through Facebook and raped
HT, 27 October 2016, KOLKATA: A 28-year-old woman was raped after she was called for an interview to a hotel in Paddapukur area on Wednesday evening. According to the police, the victim met Chittaranjan Patraon in Facebook.
They exchanged phone numbers and frequently talked. On hearing that the woman needed a job, Patra asked her to come to a hotel in Paddapukur area.
The women arrived at the hotel around 7.30 pm. She went to room F4 where Patra had checked in with four others. At around 9 pm, the woman walked out of the hotel and lodged a rape complaint against Patra at the Beniapukur police station.
According to the police, the room was booked in the name of S.Sahu. An Odisha address was mentioned in the hotel register.
The police on Thursday examined the woman and took her to a court to record her statement under 164 Crpc (On camera statement before a magistrate).
Patra and three others Suryakanta Das, Prabahat Sahoo and Satya Swarup Sahu were arrested.
