BENGAL GOVT TO ROLL OUT NOODLES SOON
Bibhas Bhattacharyya , HT, 28 Oct 2016, KOLKATA: The state government is going to launch noodles in the market soon.
The process has been initiated and people can soon buy noodles from local shops.
Unlike other noodles, the state government will make fish noodles. The state fisheries department will produce this item and market it.
“There are other noodles in the market but we will produce this one from fish such as prawn, carp and others so that one can get the real taste of fish from it. The price of noodles will be lesser than other brands,” Chandranath Sinha, fisheries minister, told Hindustan Times.
Already, Benfish, an arm of the state fisheries department, has taken the initiative to introduce a whole meal, including rice, dal, curry and fish for Rs 21 only.
It will be marketed under a project called Ekushe Annapurna and be kicked off shortly in the city. If the result is fruitful, then it could be available during lunch time near office clusters.
“Apart from noodles, it has also been decided that we will also launch packaged readyto-cook fish items. Our department is working on it. Several fish items that are popular in the market have been included in this project. Since we deal totally with fish, it will be easier for us to venture into this new area,” the fisheries minister said.
Benfish already sells several fish items like fish fry, fish roll and others. Through mobile shops, its employees sell fish items on several points in the city.
“Primarily, we have decided to sell it from our mobile shops in various points of the city. Later, distributorship can be given for it,” said an officer of the department.
It was learnt that the readyto-cook items will be kept inside a packet and be covered with a plastic jacket that will prevent contamination during handling.
According to the officer, the department will publish advertisement prior launching its products.
The advertisement would be published in popular television channels and newspapers.
