Twenty-five new cases were detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC
SNS, SILIGURI, 4 NOVEMBER 2020 : A resident of Matigara died at the dedicated hospital for Covid-19 patients at Kawakhali in Siliguri today, sources said. The 56 year-old had been admitted to the hospital yesterday. A 61 year-old resident of Birpara in Alipurduar district also died at the same hospital. She had been admitted there on 31 October. A 46 year-old person of Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri also died there within a few hours of his admission today.
Darjeeling district, meanwhile, recorded a whopping 171 new cases of Covid-19. sources said. Among the fresh cases, 55 are from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, one from Darjeeling Municipality, eight in Kharibari Block, 15 in Sukuna Block 15 in Kurseong Municipality, 34 in Matigara Block, 12 in Mirik Sub-division, 22 in Naxalbari Block, seven in Phansidewa Block, and two in Pulbazaar/ Bijanbari Block.
Twenty-five new cases were also detected in the Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC.
147 in Malda
Malda, meanwhile, saw a spike in Covid-19 cases, with 147 new cases detected in the district in tests conducted last night, sources said. Among the 1299 samples tested at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College andl Hospital,
126 came out positive, while 21 others were detected through rapid antigen tests. Old Malda Municipality had 28 cases, English Bazaar Municipality 23, Gazole 14,Habibpur 12 and Manikchak 10. This is the highest number of single day infection in the district so far, sources said. A total of 142 cases were detected on 10 October.
115 in south Dinalpur
South Dinajpur also recorded 115 Covid cases in the past 24 hours. Also, a total of 163 patients were discharged after treatment during the same period. Twenty-eight of the new cases were in Balurghat, sources said.
34 in North Dinajpur
North Dinajpur detected 34 new cases of Covid- 19 in different blocks in the past 24 hours. According to district health officials, 4907 persons have tested positive for the virus in the district so far. They said the virus was under control in the district.
