Traffic Movement Regulated on NH 10 (Sevoke-Rangpo); Road Closure Dates Revised to May 15, 17, and 19

KalimNews, Kalimpong, May 10, 2025  : The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, has announced important changes to traffic movement on National Highway 10, between Sevoke and Rangpo, as part of ongoing emergent works. In a partial modification of a previous Office Order issued on May 2, 2025, the NHIDCL has outlined a series of measures to ensure safety and manage traffic congestion.

According to Chhaya Rajput, Deputy General Manager (P) of PMU, the Highway Administrator of NH-10 has issued new directives aimed at regulating vehicular movement. The decision to impose restrictions on traffic flow has been made to alleviate congestion and ensure the safety of vehicles traversing the stretch of highway where essential works are being carried out.

The current restrictions, effective until May 11, 2025, will remain unchanged. However, a revision has been made to previously notified closure dates. Initially, the highway was to remain closed from May 13 to May 15, 2025. The revised dates for the road closure are now May 15, May 17, and May 19, 2025. On these days, traffic movement will be restricted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and all classes of vehicles will not be allowed on the affected portion of NH 10.

Despite these restrictions, the highway will remain open for regular traffic on certain dates. Commercial vehicles with a laden weight of up to 10 metric tons will be permitted to travel on May 12, May 13, May 14, May 16, May 17, and May 18, 2025.

It is important to note that the restriction of heavy goods vehicles will be in effect exclusively from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on May 15, 17, and 19, 2025. Internal movement for vehicles belonging to NHIDCL, IRCON, and NHPC, working on the Sevoke-Rangpo section, will be allowed but strictly limited to specific work locations.

The District Administration will coordinate traffic regulation measures to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles during the restricted times. The public is advised to stay updated on the latest traffic advisories to avoid any inconvenience.
