
Three die in Siliguri; 90 new Covid cases in Darjeeling dist

SNS, SILIGURI, 30 SEPTEMBER : Three persons, including a resident of Cooch Behar district, died at the dedicated hospital for Covid-19 patients at Kawakhali in Siliguri in the past 24 hours, sources said.
An 84-year-old resident of Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district, who had been admitted in the Desun (Covid) Hospital on 26 September, died last evening.
A 60-year-old resident of Jalpaiguri died last evening, hours after his admission yesterday, while a 45-year-old resident of Dabgram under the Bhaktinagar police station in Siliguri died today, the sources added.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district recorded 90 new Covid-19 today, sources said. Twenty-one cases were from Siliguri Municipal Corporation, one in Darjeeling municipality, one in Kharibari, one in Kurseong municipality, two in Sukna, 27 in Matigara, 11 in Mirik, 18 in Naxalbari, six in Phansidewa, one in Sukhia Pokhari, and one in Takdah.
Another 11 cases were detected in SMC areas under Jalpaiguri district, the sources said.
Also today, 18 patients were either discharged from hospitals or they ended their home isolation, they added .
55 fresh cases in Malda
Another 55 Covid-19 cases were detected in Malda today, 40 in the VRDLin the Malda Medical College and Hospital among the 710 samples tested there.A total of 15 cases were detected through rapid antigen tests.
The total number of cases in Malda district has now gone up to over 7000, with 56 deaths and around 450 active cases.
Among the fresh Covid cases were 18 from areas under the English Bazaar Municip ality areas and 10 from Harishchandrapur-1.
