4th Covid-19 Death in Kalimpong, District report states 402 Confirmed cases, 275 Discharged, 124 Active cases.
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 23 August 2020: With the death of a Covid patient of Kalimpong, the death toll of Kalimpong from Covid-19 reaches to 4.
Ghanashyam Basur 64 yr
of Harijan Road Kalimpong died in Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital on 23 August and it is the latest death.
Earlier three persons
died from Kalimpong district, the first death of not only Kalimpong but also of North Bengal was of Sunita devi Singh, 44 yr of
Kalimpong. She died on 30 March at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
Umamati Devi of Somabaray Bazar Gorubathan died on13 July 2020 with comorbidities. The 55 yr old patient was from Bihar but had been staying at Sombaray Bazar of Gorubathan, in the Kalimpong district. The patient was admitted in RICU ward of NBMCH with respiratory related illness and died there. She had been referred from Jalpaiguri district hospital and she tested positive in NBMCH.
Narmaya Biswakarma, 73 yr of Tista died on 19 August in Kalimpong Sub divisional Hospital who tested positive after her death. Her swab test was done on 17 August but the report was not given to her family and she was cremated as an ordinary patient.
Another death was of Joseph Dahal, 53 yr of 6 Mile died
on 21 August in Dr. Chhang’s Super speciality Covid hospital. He was having respiratory problem and transferred from Triveni hospital.
So far the district
record states that there are 402 confirmed cases, of which 275 have recovered, 3
died and 124 are active cases.
The record issued by the health department does not tally with records maintained by others including media houses.
With the testing of 1 patient of Male medicine department and 1 Technologist of CT Scan department of Kalimpong District hospital Male ward and CT scan department is closed for the time being. Earlier Female ward was also closed after the death of a woman of Tista.
