Kurseong Municipality brushes aside 'rumours'

SNS, KURSEONG: Putting an end to rumours, the Kurseong Municipality councilors, today, made it clear that they were with Anit Thapa earlier and they have been working under his guidelines for the interest of general public presently too. They maintained that they would continue to endorse Mr Thapa and work under his guidelines to serve the public in the future too.
Talking to press, the Kurseong Municipality chairman, Krishna Limboo said" It is really unfortunate that rumours are spreading in the hills and social-media regarding the present board and councillors of Kurseong Municipality."
"Since the formation of the board in May 2017, we have been working under the guidelines of GJMM leader Anit Thapa and will continue doing so for the interest of the people. Only yesterday, we observed the second anniversary of the present board. All the councilors of the present board were elected by the people. Therefore we will work for the public and try to solve issues for the remaining three years too," added Mr Limboo.

"A few persons are trying to mislead councilors and public through different means but these people should understand that Mr Thapa has helped everyone and worked for the public at the ground level before. Therefore, these people should stop spreading such rumours. According to leaders in the hills, the demand of Gorkhaland was betrayed by Anit Thapa and Binay Tamang but this demand has been on since 1907. The present board is just around two years old, ; how can they betray the people? We should brush aside all the rumours," said Brigen Gurung, the Vice-chairman of the board.
