Madhyamik test centre 'confusion'

TT,Jalpaiguri: Over 200 Madhyamik students of two English medium schools in Jalpaiguri have found that they have been allotted an examination centre different from the one printed on their admit cards.

The exam starts on March 12. The students of St. Mary's and St. Capitanio, both in Nagrakata block and affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, received admit cards mentioning Eklabya Model Residential School as the exam centre.

However, a pre-test trip revealed that Nagrakata Bengali High School and not Eklabya is the venue. Both schools are a few kilometres apart.

"As Eklabya school is a residential institution, it would be a problem if it is selected for Madhyamik. That is why the centre was later shifted," said an official, adding the decision was made after the admit cards were printed.

Eklabya principal Amarjeet Singh Chouhan said he had no idea his school was selected as a centre. "We had no information that the school was selected as a Madhyamik centre. It was during a meeting at the BDO's office that we learnt about the mistake."

St. Mary's and St. Capitanio students were later issued fresh slips mentioning the correct centres.
