Four women rescued in Bagdogra

TT, Bagdogra: Four purportedly trafficked Nepalese women were stopped at Bagdogra airport from taking a flight to Delhi on Saturday.

Security guards grew suspicious seeing five women without any luggage and money.

The five did not have the same flight tickets. "The seemed nervous. We alerted police and representatives of an NGO," an airport official said.

Upon their arrival, the women, aged between 19 and 32, were questioned.

"They said they were from remote villages in Nepal," a member of Kanchenjunga Udhar Kendra said.

The women apparently said a travel agent had arranged their tickets.

"They were told they would reach Delhi from where they would be taken to Kuwait and other Gulf countries," the NGO member said.

Four of the women decided not to take the flights after talking to the NGO people. But one woman refused and continued with the journey.
