Newborn rescued

TT, Alipurduar, Oct. 6: Two men who were about to throw a one-day-old boy to the Torsha river at Jaigaon on the India-Bhutan border were caught by the local people and handed over to police.
The police questioned the duo and came to know about the infant's mother. The woman, who claimed to be from Bhutan, was picked up from near a shop in Jaigaon and admitted to Jaigaon Primary Health Centre.
The rescued baby has been admitted to Alipurduar district hospital and is under observation.
