
JAP to knock Delhi doors again
SNS, 8 Janury 2018, KALIMPONG: The Jan Andolan Party (JAP) has decided to go to Delhi again on 20 January and request MPs to raise the demand for Gorkhaland in Parliament during its budget session.
JAP Ieaders were recently in Delhi, demonstrating and demanding that the issue of Gorkhaland be discussed in Parliament.
"Once the Business Advisory Committee raises a certain topic, only then can the issue be introduced in the parliament," party chief Dr I Iarka Bahadur Chettri told reporters here today as he spoke about their experiences of the Parliamentary march they held recently in Delhi. The JAP has decided to go to Delhi again on 29 January and request MPs to raise the demand for Gorkhaland in the Parliament.

Dr Chettri further said that the situation in the Hills worsened because of the 104-day shutdown. "The main political parties of the Hills are not allowed to hold meetings and campaigns by the police.Thepolice are working as political cadres;' he said.
Dr Chettri said that their Delhi visit was basically to meet central leaders and request them to take initiatives to take up the demand for a separate State and the deteriorating situation in the Hills in parliament.
He further said that the Centre does not recognise political parties of the Hills.
"The ones who go to Delhi should be able to convince the Centre on the Gorkhaland demand. Most of the MPs are aware of the demand for a separate state here, and if we work sincerely, we will be ableto make our demands better heard and fulfilled, " said Dr. Chhetri
