Tamang lauds CM

SNS, 8 Janury 2018, KALIMPONG: The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), has welcomed chief minister Mamata Banerjee's statements on the state government's cooperation with the Hill body for bringing about development. Chairman of the board of administrators for the GTA, Binoy Tamang, who attended the inaugural function of the Uttar Banga Utsav here today, along with Vice-Chairman of the board Anit Thapa, said the festival and the event today were a platform for reunion of the Hills and the Plains.

"I attended the inaugural programme, and I am very happy to be part of it, and I must say that it is the reunion of the Plains and Hills. I welcome what the chief minister said about cooperation with the GTA for the development of the Hills," Mr Tamang said on the sidelines of the programme.

Miss Banerjee, meanwhile, praised the recently-organised Teesta Rangit Tourism Festival in the Hills in her speech at the programme.

'We had organised the Teesta Rangit Tourism Festival in a bid to send a message among the people that normality had returned in the Hills. Tourists have started coining back,' Mr Tamang added.

The chief minister is scheduled to go to Alipurduar district tomorrow, where she is scheduled to inaugurate several projects.
