GJM leader accused of abusing female TMC cadre

EOI, Jalpaiguri, 26 Jul 2013: The district secretary of the Trinamool Congress women’s cell, Serina Chhetri, was today allegedly abused verbally by GJM leader Saroj Chhetri. The latter is the secretary of the West Dooars zone of the labour union affiliated to the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.

The GJM leader was arrested by Malbazar police following the incident. Serina said the incident occurred on Thursday outside the election booth of Bhanu Maidan Primary School in Bagrakote.

She claimed Saroj suddenly used provocative words while the voting procedure was being conducted and she was forced to lodge an FIR against him at Malbazar police station.

However, GJM leader Binod Ghatani claimed the TMC is sure of being defeated at the polls and its members are cooking up stories against his colleague.

Malbazar subdivision officer-in-charge Arindam Sarkar, meanwhile, said the matter would be investigated thoroughly.
