BJP leading in Kalimpong by 1118 votes to BGPM-: Bharat Kumar Chhetri Takes the Lead in Kalimpong as Counting Progresses


KalimNews, Kalimpong, May 4, 2026 : The latest counting update from the Kalimpong Assembly Constituency indicates a shift in momentum, with Bharat Kumar Chhetri of the Bharatiya Janata Party moving into a leading position.

According to the most recent figures, Bharat Kumar Chhetri has secured 19,939 votes and is now ahead by a margin of 1,118 votes over Ruden Sada Lepcha of the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha, who has received 18,821 votes so far.

Other candidates remain significantly behind in the race. Bhernone Britto Lepcha of IGJF has garnered 4,212 votes, while Sisir Kumar Sharma of ABGL stands at 568 votes. Independent candidate Aldrin Lepcha has received 507 votes, followed by Santa Kumar Pradhan of INC with 453 votes and Rita Thapa of CPI(M)with 249 votes. The NOTA (None of the Above) option has recorded 593 votes.

With this trend, Bharat Kumar Chhetri has emerged as the frontrunner at this stage of counting. However, as further rounds are yet to be completed, the final outcome will depend on the remaining vote counts.
