Bijoy Kumar Rai Takes Commanding Lead in Darjeeling Assembly Constituency

KalimNews, May 4., 2026, Kalimpong : The latest counting trends from the Darjeeling constituency in West Bengal reveal a lead for Bijoy Kumar Rai of the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha.

As per the current figures, Bijoy Kumar Rai has secured 14,735 votes and is leading by a substantial margin of 4,318 votes over Noman Rai of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who has polled 10,417 votes so far.

Independent candidate Ajoy Lucas Edwards of IGJF is in third place with 8,208 votes, while the remaining candidates trail significantly behind. Jatin Ghalay has received 372 votes, Milan Thokar stands at 321 votes, and Madhap Rai has secured 306 votes. The NOTA (None of the Above) option has garnered 470 votes.

With a strong lead already established, Bijoy Kumar Rai is currently in a favorable position in Darjeeling. However, as counting continues, the final outcome will be confirmed only after all rounds are completed.
