Bangladeshi National Detained Inside Bengdubi Army Cantonment for Suspicious Activity

MP, Siliguri, Nov 6, 2025 :  A Bangladeshi national was detained by army personnel after being found acting suspiciously inside the Bengdubi Army Cantonment on Wednesday night. The arrested individual has been identified as Nanda Mondal, a resident of Charigaon village under the Srinagar Police Station in Munshiganj district, Bangladesh.

According to sources, army personnel observed Mondal moving around the Bengdubi compound in a manner that raised suspicion. He was immediately apprehended and subjected to questioning. During preliminary interrogation, Mondal reportedly admitted that he was a Bangladeshi citizen and had been working in the area as a laborer since October 29.

Further investigations revealed that Mondal had been residing in various locations in India, including Jalpaiguri, during his stay. Upon searching his belongings, police recovered several documents, including an Indian voter ID card, a PAN card, and a Bangladeshi identity card. This raised further questions about how he had managed to acquire Indian identification documents.

The Army handed Mondal over to Bagdogra Police Station, where he was arrested. He was subsequently produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of Mondal’s activities and how he obtained the Indian identification documents.
