Siliguri Youth Arrested in Attempt to Murder Case by Delhi Cops

MP, Siliguri, Nov 6, 2025 :  Faridabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested a youth from Siliguri in connection with a violent clash that took place between two groups in New Delhi around one-and-a-half months ago. The accused has been identified as Ritam Mahajan, a resident of Ward 33 in Siliguri.

According to police sources, the incident began when a violent altercation broke out between two groups in Delhi, during which a man was severely attacked with a sharp weapon. Following the assault, the injured victim filed a complaint for attempted murder, prompting Delhi Police to arrest seven individuals linked to the attack.

However, the victim later filed an additional complaint with the Faridabad Cyber Crime Police, in which he provided Ritam Mahajan’s phone number. In his complaint, the victim claimed that Ritam had repeatedly called him, urging him to resolve the dispute between the two groups. The victim further alleged that Ritam had threatened to shoot and kill him if he did not comply with his demands.

Upon receiving this information, Delhi Police reached out to the Siliguri Police Commissionerate and successfully traced Ritam's location. He was summoned to the NJP Police Station for questioning. Authorities suspect that Ritam had been traveling to Delhi for his studies and may have become closely involved with a group of local youths in the area.

Ritam has been arrested and will be taken to New Delhi on transit remand for further investigation.
