'Snatching’ bag containing Rs 1 cr: Cops detain two

MP, 19 Jan 2025, Kolkata: Two persons have been detained in connection with the snatching that had taken place on Saturday morning.

The detained duo is getting interrogated to find out the snatchers. On Saturday around 9 am, a businessman identified as Iftikar Ahmed Khan was walking along the road in Narkeldanga when two miscreants riding a motorcycle arrived and sprayed some sort of chemical on Khan’s left eye.

One of the miscreants threatened the businessman by showing a sharp weapon and snatched a bag containing about Rs 1 crore.

After checking the CCTV footage of the area, police detained two persons who are suspected to have connection with the snatchers. It may be mentioned that on January 13, a similar incident had taken place where about Rs 12 lakh was robbed from the Park Circus area.

The miscreants on a motorcycle escaped with a bag full of money. However, police on Saturday informed that three persons were arrested and Rs 10 lakh has been recovered.
