Munish Tamang to take up problems at Nepal – India border

Tamang visited several areas under the Naxalbari block and met people on the roads, at their doorsteps and shops.

RAJESH SHARMA, EOI, JAIGAON, APRIL 12, 2024 : Hitting out at the BJP and the Trinamool Congress for the former’s “politics of lies” and the latter’s “corruption and tyranny,” Congress candidate for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency Munish Tamang on Friday said his party would want to work by taking ahead people's issues. 
“I have been out on the campaign trail for along time, and I feel good about it. People here are fed up with the BJP's politics of lies and the Trinamool's corruption and tyranny. Everyone wants change,” Tamang told reporters at Naxalbari near Siliguri. 
Tamang visited several areas under the Naxalbari block and met people on the roads, at their doorsteps and shops.
Accompanied by CPI (M) leader Saman Pathak in his campaign, Tamang said:: “We want to work with people's issues.
”Replying to questions from reporters, Tamang said the Congress would be able to win the Darjeeling seat. According to him, they were getting very good response from the people the met during the campaign.
Later, Tamang visited the Nihaljot-Manigram village in the same area near the Nepal-India border, and interacted with the local people there. The local people told Tamang about the myriad of problems they have been facing for long. “Please do not disappear after taking our votes, but do help us in having our basic needs, like roads and other infrastructure, fulfilled,” a local woman,” Rekha Chhetri told Tamang.
Tamang told reporters that no work for the people had been done in the areas near the India-Nepal border in the past 15 years.
