Only Munish Tamang can serve interest of Gorkhas, says Ajoy Edwards

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, APRIL 12, 2024 : Condemning the statement of National President of  BJP J. P. Nadda in Gangtok on Thursday that people of the hills should not support the regional parties but join the mainstream led by the BJP, Hamro Party leaders in Mirik on Friday made a strong pitch for the voters to send Congress candidate in Darjeeling LokSabha seat Munish Tamang in the interest of the Gorkha community. 

“I have already said that the thinking of  the BJP towards the Gorkha community is not good,” Hamro Party President Ajoy Edwards said. “Now the national spokesperson of the BJP and the Darjeeling Lok Sabba candidate of the party Raju Bista is trying to cover up the mistakes of the BJP President and correcting his mistakes.”

It was clear from the statement of  BJP President J. P.Nadda that the future of parties like the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, the Gorkha National Liberation Front and the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists which were supporting the BJP was in danger. Voting for the BJP meant voting  for  the  Trinamool  Congress,  he  said. 

“The understanding between the BJP and the Trinamool is now complete. After the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief  Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool walked out of the INDIA alliance, ”Edwards pointed out.

“In   Sikkim   MLAs   belonging   to   Pawan   Kumar Chamling’s Sikkim Democratic Front had joined the BJP and had worked with Golay to run the government. But later the BJP raised accusations against Golay and the Sikkim in-charge of the BJP issued statements warning the Sikkim Chief  Minister .”President  of  Mirik  Sub-Division  of  Hamro  Party Prashant Lama said the attitude of the Trinamool had always been negative towards the Gorkha community.

The Trinamool Congress had not allowed issues related to Darjeeling to make any progress in Delhi. The BJP had left its promises to the Gorkha community unfulfilled for 15 years. Congress candidate Munish Tamang had come with the promise to fight for the cause of  the Gorkha community, he said. 

Being  son of the soil, he would be the best person to raise the issues of the Darjeeling hills in Parliament.
