Cash seizure at Melli: 10 lakh 21 thousand 5 hundred confiscated by police from a Bolero

The vehicle was going towards Sikkim Melli Side from Bengal and during the joint effort of the civil officials and the police seized Rs,10,21,500 
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 April 2024 : The Static Surveillance Team and Kalimpong Police during a Naka checking at Melli Bridge intercepted a private Bolero vehicle and confiscated unaccountable money from the vehicle. 

The vehicle was going towards Sikkim Melli Side from Bengal and during the joint effort of the civil officials and the police seized Rs,10,21,500 (Rupees Ten lakh twenty one thousand and five hundred). The police source stated that three occupants of the vehicle are detained by the police for further investigation of the case. 

Necessary legal action in accordance to the Model Code of Conduct is being taken in this regard.

It is reminded that on 31 March 2024 at the Melli checkpost, the SST team of Sikkim Police had intercepted a private vehicle with registration number SK 05-PA0018 and uncovered a cache of Rs 30.05 lakh in cash. The vehicle was traveling from Siliguri to Namchi.

A person by the name Sirish Khare, a resident of Namchi, was detained at the checkpost for further investigation on the case.
