Tourists assaulted at Mirik park, seven arrested
YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, JUNE 30, 2023 : Seven youths accused of assaulting at Manjushree Park in Mirik some youths from Duday have been arrested and a case of assault has been initiated.

Police sources said on Friday since five of the arrested youths were minors they had been sent to the Juvenile Justice Board, Darjeeling Sadar, while two adults had been booked for assault and sent to Kurseong Court.
According to family members of the victims who went to Manjushree Park as tourists on Thursday were assaulted by some local youths with firewood. One of the victims, Riwas Rai, had to be shifted to Siliguri in critical condition as he had suffered severe head injuries. His treatment was going on.
It is believed that the incident will send a wrong message to tourists about the park. The tourism centre lacks infrastructure, but the nature is beautiful.
