PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, MARCH 17, 2023: A tripartite meeting to discuss the lingering crisis of Longview Tea Garden was resolved on Friday at Shramik Bhawan in Siliguri. Two arch rival political leaders, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Chief Executive Officer Anit Thapa and Hamro Party leader Ajoy Edwards were seen shaking hands before the meeting.
After the meeting Thapa said: “I have always said that problems can never be solved by fighting but through dialogue. This is what happened today. We had a meeting with the owner of the tea estate.
Today's meeting with the owner of Longview Tea Estate ended with a positive result. The agreement is in accordance with the laws and regulations of the government. The owner has requested that there is no conditional in the agreement that we signed today. I hope that the owner will act according to the agreement.
We will work for the benefit and victory of the employees. Until the workers get their rights, we will help them. Let's work together.
”Edward also expressed happiness on behalf of the workers after the fruitful meeting. He said that he had always stood beside the workers in any crisis and obstacles.
