NBU opens library door to Darjeeling Hills University students

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, DECEMBER 29, 2022: North Bengal University (NBU) has taken a decision to allow the students of Darjeeling Hills University to access the facilities of NBU university library. This was the second major decision taken in this regard in a week’s time after the same facility was extended to the students of Distance Education at NBU on December 23. 

The NBU university library was established along with the establishment of the university in 1962.NBU VC Om Prakash Mishra said on Thursday: “Being the oldest university in this part of the state, our efforts have always been to nurture the new universities established nearby. 

The university library at NBU has wide collections, and we are making these resources accessible to the students of DHU and Distance Education in the academic interest.

”Mishra said for such access by the students, the NBU would neither take any caution deposit nor any fees from the students. 

“We have instructed the Librarian to complete the modalities at the earliest so that service can be opened for the DHU and Distance Education students within a week’s time. The university is going to release a notice in this regard on the NBU and DHU websites for wide publicity of the facility.”

The Darjeeling Hills University was established at Mungpoo in the Darjeeling district in 2021 under The Greenfield University Act 2018.
