GTA sabhasad Milesh Rai, Dhurba Bomzan and Hill Trinamool Congress Chairman LB Rai were present on this occasion. The water project is under the GTA PWC plan.
The  target  is  to reach 655 houses in the Soureni samasty at a cost of Rs 1.7 crore. The 10 projects that were laid on Friday included Manju Dara Gaon, Barakothi Village, Chota Tingling, Soureni Bazar, Khaprail Dara Gaon, Kataray Forest Busty, Chuwandhurra, Bungkulung and Singbulli Factory Gaon. Out of the 10 water projects for which the foundation stone was laid on Friday, nine would be piped to houses from previously constructed tanks, while one will be a completely new project.
Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Mani Ratna Mangrati said the foundation stone of 10 water works under Jal Jeevan Mission were laid during the day with the aim of providing water to every house.
He said that waterworks would be set up in four areas of Mirik subdivision, and the department had set a target of delivering water to every home by March 2024.
Hill Trinamool Congress Chairman L. B. Rai said that the West Bengal Government had started the scheme with the aim of delivering water to every home and it would benefit  everyone.
He requested the members of the GTA to work for the all-round development of the region, saying that more projects will be started through the GTA. Executive Member of GTA Arun Sigchi said the promises made in the past would be fulfilled in five years.
Under the active initiative of the  department,  the  foundation stone of 10 water projects was laid in Soureni area.
"I express my gratitude to the department." He said people should be able to take advantage of that plan.
He said that GTA chief executive Anit Thapa was now in office in the GTA for less than a month and 10 water projects had been started in Soureni. He accused the MPs and MLAs who had won votes in the election for not doing anything for the benefit of the people.
"People should go out on the streets and ask MPs and MLAs what they have done for the benefit of  the people." Water should first reach to the homes of the poor and now the roots of development in Soureni had been laid.
