Kalimpong to get multi-storeyed car park

Newly-appointed Chairman of Board of Administrators of Kalimpong Municipality Ravi Pradhan informed about this on Wednesday.
He said that the car park would be constructed as per the agreement of the civic body with a Kolkata - based private company. The car park would be handed over to the municipality after its completion.
"When it comes to parking and water problems in Kalimpong, the municipality is blamed. But other departments also have a responsibility, including the GTA," he said
The four-storey car park will accommodate about 300 vehicles. It will be the parking for the Motor Stand and for vehicles in the surrounding stands as well as private and tourist vehicles.
A meeting will be held next Monday with the representatives of nine drivers' associations on the issue of car parking. Soil testing of the project site started from Wednesday. During its construction, alternative facilities for parking would be made, Ravi Pradhan said.
