India Today has learnt that Niraj Bishnoi, the alleged mastermind behind the ‘Bulli Bai’ app, is threatening Delhi Police officials with suicide.

A source has confirmed that the accused, who is in the custody of Delhi police, attempted to harm himself twice during the investigation. The police have conducted a medical examination to ensure his safety. He is currently stable.

A senior official privy to the investigation said that this could be his strategy to delay the investigation. However, due to the sensitivity of the situation, the officers are exercising extreme caution to ensure his safety.

The agency has found that the accused, Niraj Bishnoi, is a habitual hacker who has previously defaced websites. He has been doing so since he was 15 years-old.

DCP of Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) special cell KPS Malhotra, who led the entire operation to arrest Bishnoi, said, "He had previously hacked and defaced the websites of several Indian and Pakistani schools and universities. The authorities are looking into his claims of hacking school-related websites.”

On the same day that Mumbai Police arrested Shweta Jha (18) from Uttarakhand, accused Niraj Bishnoi allegedly tweeted from a Twitter account with the handle @giyu44, challenging Mumbai Police to arrest him.

During interrogation, Delhi police found that the said ID was linked to a gaming character, GIYU, from the anime world, which Niraj Bishnoi had a particular fondness for. "Anime" is a colloquial term for Japanese animation. Niraj had created several Twitter handles that included the word "GIYU."

According to sources, he also admitted to communicating with the people arrested by Mumbai police through social media, primarily through Twitter group chats.

Bishnoi revealed that he was in contact with the creator of the twitter handle @sullideals, who had created the sulli deals app on GitHub, and that he had also propagated the same.

DCP KPS Malhotra told India Today that there is evidence linking Neeraj Bishnoi to the Sulli Deals case.

“His claim of being in touch with the Sulli Deal twitter handle has been confirmed by the involvement of a twitter account used by him in a FIR registered at PS-Kishangarh, Delhi. In the FIR, he used a Twitter account to tweet a photograph of a woman for auction,” said KPS Malhotra.

The police are verifying his claim of being in contact with the creator of the Sulli Deals app.
