263 in Darj, 31 in Darj Hills, 131 in Plains, 128 in SMC tests positive, 33 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
14 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV)  and 2 suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) are admitted in paediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs, and 1 is referred from Islampur. None of them is suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) .
13 (1 suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery. 
Presently 17 Childrensuffering from ARI patients are being treated. 

3 child died:
In the NBMCH, 3 child died of other ailments.

72 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 665 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests, 72 tested positive.

Out of 544 swab samples received from Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 529 from Darjeeling, 118 from Kalimpong. Of these samples 18 tested positive. 
 
128 in SMC:
128 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (101 in Darjeeling and 27 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 
 
263 in Darjeeling district:
263 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 101 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 
31 of the Hills (10 in Darjeeling Municipality, 12 in Kurseong Municipality, 0 in Mirik, 2 in Bijanbari, 3 in Sukhiapokhari, 4 in Takdah)
131 of the plains (3 in Khoribari, 84 in Matigara, 34 in Naxalbari, 8 in Phansidewa, 2 in Sukuna) also test positive.

33 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 33 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 28 patients, 5 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 23 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 
There is 2 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 2 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 1 in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and none in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

121 Discharged:
121 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
