Bengal Covid situation : 862 new cases, 11 death reported


KalimNews | November 02, 2021 : Presently the total number of active cases in the state is fluctuating. Today 862 fresh cases of the contagion were reported, pushing the tally to 15,94,495, the bulletin released by the state health department said. The state had reported 725 new infections on yesterday. 249 new cases was reported from Kolkata, the highest among all the districts of the state.

The total number of active cases in the state also came down to 8126 from 8146, yesterday. 11 deaths due to coronavirus were reported during the day, taking the death toll to 19,160. 2 deaths were reported in North Bengal and the rest 9 deaths in South Bengal. The fatality rate is 1.20 per cent. 

Yesterday the state had registered 15 Covid-19 deaths. So far, 15,67,209 people were cured of the disease in West Bengal, including 871 in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 98.29 per cent. The positivity rate, which was 2.49 per cent yesterday, rose to 2.20 per cent today, the bulletin said. Yesterday, 39,112 samples had been tested for detecting the infection in the state taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 1,92,96,527 it said.

The number of people vaccinated today was 11,66,993. Cumulative vaccination till today was 7,88,85,073, of them 5,70,07,871 people were vaccinated with first dose and 2,18,77,202 with second dose.
