SNS, SILIGURI, 12 OCTOBER 2020 : Three persons, including two residents of Matigara in Siliguri, died in Dr Chhang's (Covid) Hospital in Siliguri in the past 24 hours, sources said. A 53-year-old resident of Sukna near Siliguri also died in a private hospital in Siliguri today, the sources said.
A 65-year-old resident of Matigara who had been admitted in Dr Chhang's Hospital on 8 October died today, while a 74-year-old resident of the same area also died there. She was admitted there on 10 October.
A 60-year-old person from Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri district died there last evening. She had been admitted to the hospital on 6 October.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district recorded 142 fresh cases of Covid- 19, sources said.The new cases include 31 in Siliguri Municipal Corporation, three in Darjeeling Municipality, 12 in Kharibari, 10 in Kurseong Municipality, 15 in Sukuna, 36 in Mattgara, five in Mirik, 15 in Naxalbari, nine in Phansidewa, four in Pulbazaar.Bijanbari, and two in Takdah.
The Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC also recorded 14 cases. A total of 55 patients were also released either from hospitals or home isolation, officials said. The officials, however, added that the fresh cases may contain some repeat tests, which is being verified.
100 more in Malda
Another 100 samples among the 606 tested at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and hospital were found positive for Covid- 19 last night, sources said.
59 in South Dinajpur
South Dinajpur also is showing signs of an increase in the number of daily cases. A health department report said 59 new Covid- 19 cases have been detected in the district. The fresh cases have taken the district's tally to 5833.
