
TMC roots for School Service Commission in Hills

SNS, DARJEELING, 12 OCTOBER 2020 : The Trinamul Congress (Hills) today took up different issues related to education with officials of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA).
According to TMC leaders, the issues included starting of the School Service Commission (SSC) in the hills.
"We met the GTA principal secretary today where we raised the issue of the ongoing verification of voluntary teachers. We have asked them that the verification process be done properly as in the past there were many complaints of genuine teachers being left out, which we do not want to be repeated," TMC (Hills) leader NB Khawas said.
According to Mr Khawas, there were many educated youths in the Hills, but that they have not been able to go for interviews. "This is one of the reasons for which the SSC should be started in the hills too," he added.
"Apart from that, in the year 2019, applications for posts of primary teachers were taken with thousands applying for them, but till now no interview for the same was called and we have also asked that an interview for them be also called," Mr Khawas told reporters here.
The delegition that met the GTA officials included Mr Khawas,TMC (Hills) president LB Rai and Rajya Sabha MP of the TMC, Shanta Chettri, among others, TMC leaders said.
