Gorkha Janmukti Morcha supremo Bimal Gurung, on the run since 2017, resurfaced in Kolkata's Salt Lake area. Bimal Gurung announced he is breaking ties with the BJP and allying with the TMC ahead of 2021 Bengal assembly elections.
India Today Web Desk, Kolkata, October 21, 2020: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Bimal Gurung, who has been on the run for the past three years, resurfaced in Kolkata today and announced that he was quitting the NDA and allying with the Trinamool Congress ahead of the 2021 Bengal assembly election.
Bimal Gurung was spotted outside the Gorkha Bhavan in Salt Lake area where he hosted a press meet.
"PM Modi didn't meet the commitment he made but Mamata Banerjee fulfilled all promises she made. So, I would like to separate myself from NDA, I would like to break our relation with BJP," Bimal Gurung announced at the presser.
"In 2021 Bengal election we'll forge an alliance with TMC and give a reply to BJP," he added.
