Today’s update: Covid positive cases- 10 of Siliguri, 9 of Jalpaiguri, 5 of Alipurduar, 5 of Coochbehar, 5 of Malda- 5 patients from a nursing home. Paid and separate Covid hospital proposed.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 June 2020: 

10 patients of Siliguri tested positive: 

2 patients admitted in a nursing home of Pradhan Nagar are found to have been infected of Corona virus. They are from Kaluajote of Naxalbari  and a woman of ward no. 33. The other 3 are staff of the same nursing home working in the departments of Surgical and Internal medicine. They are from Medical more, Champasari ward no. 46, Rajendra Nagar ward no. 1, Bhaktinagar, and Putharghatta  Today all of them were admitted at Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital.

3 admitted at DESUN hospital also tested positive.They are from Dulaljote of Khoribari, Baragharia of Phansidewa and Shantipara of Bhaktinagar. All have travel history and are admitted at Dr.Chang's Covid hospital.

Sushanta kumar Roy,Officer on Special duty for Covid-19 to north Bengal after holding a high level meeting told reporters that as per the information, 8 doctors of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital have tested positive to Covid 19 and are under treatment while 35 contact doctors and other staff are in quarantine. Still there is enough number of doctors to care of the NBMCH so the order issued is withdrawn. 

He also stated that for treating doctors and medical staff along with other frontline workers of Covid-19, a new dedicated hospital will be started in a nursing home at Jalpaiguri. 

He also said that as per the requests made by some people, paid treatment for Covid-19 will also be started for people opting for paid treatment.

No patients from hills were admitted today. 

From other districts of North Bengal- 9 of Jalpaiguri, 5 of Alipurduar, 5 of Coochbehar and 5 of Malda tested positive and admitted at different Covid hospitals.

Jalpaiguri: Out of 9 of Jalpaiguri, 6 are from Nagarkatta who are returnees from other states. In addition to that the other patients are a nurse of Jalpaiguri Sadar hospital residing at Haldibari, one police officer of Ward no 8 and 2 from Matelli. So far Jalpaiguri has 76 confirmed and 9 recovered cases.

Alipurduar: Today 5 persons after testing positive were admitted at Covid hospital. So far in Alipurduar there are 43 Confirmed cases, 34 active cases, 1 moved and 8 recovered cases.

Coochbehar: From Coochbehar, there were just 5 cases testing positive and they were from Dinhatta. So far Coochbehar has 204 Confirmed cases, 143 active cases, 1 death and 60 recovered cases.

5 persons of Malda tested positive. 

Today’s case includes one nursing staff of Malda Covid hospital. There are 204 Confirmed cases (of them 130 are from Dinhatta) 1 death,143 active cases and 60 recovered cases. 

NBMCH

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 June 2020: 

Presently 10 patients are admitted with symptoms similar to Covid 19 in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. There are 2 patients in Isolation ward I, 2 patients in gynecological isolation ward while in surgical ward there are 6 patients.

In Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid hospital the number of patients has reached the climax. There are 110 Covid-19 positive patients admitted and being treated.  

DESUN hospital

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 June 2020: 

In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital at Kawakhali, 39 patients are admitted with symptoms similar to Covid-19. 11 of them are in ICU.

There are 4 patients each from Kalimpong and Darjeeling.

GTA

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 June 2020: 

24 patients of GTA area are in the Dr. Chhang’s SSC hospital. 16 of Darjeeling (6 of Sonada and Sukhiapokhari, 1 of Mirik, 5 of Kurseong, 3 of Darjeeling, 1 of Bijanbari and 14 of Kalimpong (1 of 10 Mile, 1 of 16 Mile, 2 of Nimbong, 1of Upper Bong, 1 of Chandralok, 1 of Kasyom and 1 of Kumai)

The number of people in home quarantine in the district of Darjeeling is 2792 and in Kalimpong district it is 909, the tally stands in GTA to 3701. 

Altogether there are 359 persons in 38 institutional facility quarantines

Today’s daily state bulletin stated that Darjeeling district has 115 confirmed cases of which 47 have recovered and 3 died while 67 are active cases. Similarly Kalimpong district has 18 confirmed cases of which 8 have recovered and 1 died while 2 are active cases.

STATE 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 June 2020: Todays report states a record highest spike of increase in new cases and active cases.

In the state 426 new cases (1 day before-449, 2 days before- 435) as well as   9 death (1 day before-13, 2 days before-17) and 162 recovery (1 day before-184, 2 days before-207) is recorded today.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 8613 (1 day before-8187, 2 days before-7738) while active cases is 4743 (1 day before-4488, 2 days before-4236). The death toll from the disease till now is 405 (1 day before-324, 2 days before-311).

After recovery of the infection 3465 (1 day before-3303, days before-3119) are released from the hospital and the rate of recovery has increased to 40.22%

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 43, ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 9024 (1 day before-9786, 2 days before-9771) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 280098 (1 day before-271074, 2 days before-261288) till now since day 1.   

Today 156521 persons (1 day before-154682, 2 days before-152173) are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 264738 persons (1 day before-260955, 2 days before-257156) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance.

Number of people released from home quarantine was 108217 (1 day before-106273, 2 days before-104983).

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 22731 persons (1 day before-22695, 2 days before-22669) and so far from these centres 68027 persons (1 day before-65761, 2 days before-63450) were released after recovery.

Currently in the state there are 69 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 53 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
