64 new Coronavirus Cases recorded- 16 from Darjeeling hills- 8 from plains including 1 doctor and 1 technician infected - 2 more cases in Sikkim reported

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 June 2020:

16 cases from hills and 8 from plains: Of the 64 cases 16 new cases are reported today from the Darjeeling hills. They are 5 cases from Kurseong, 5 from Sonada, 1 from Mirik and 5 cases from Sukhiapokhari of hill areas of GTA and 5 from Debidanga and 1 from Fulbari of plains of Darjeeling district. 2 medics are also reported to be positive to Covid-19. 

Besides these 30 cases are from Islampur of Uttar Dinajpur, 6 from Coochbehar (5 of Dinhatta and 1 of Coochbehar) and 4 are from Alipurduar districts.

Of the 13 cases of hills, 5 members of a single family of Sonada have been found positive to Covid-19. They had returned from Lucknow. 

5 members of a single family of Debidanga tested positive. Six members of a family were hospitalised and admitted at DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) hospital some three days back. They were residents of Debidanga (ward no. 48) and 5 of the six tested positive.Now they are admitted at Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid -19 hospital. They are of age group- 77, 48 and girls of 15, 17 and 19 years and have no travel history. 

1 child of Fulbari is also found to be Covid positive. 

2 medics tested positive: After 4 medics testing positive, one doctor of anesthesiology department and a laboratory technician of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) are also infected by the virus.

25 health staff who came into contact with the medics are sent to quarantine facility.

2 more cases reported from Sikkim: A person of Sikkim had been to Mumbai and there he had some Covid like symptoms as such he had done a swab test at Mumbai before boarding a Shramik special train heading to Sikkim. While he was on his way, his report was ready and was sent to his state officials. After arriving at New Jalpaiguri, he was taken to STNM Covid hospital by the Sikkim government.

Another lady of West Sikkim working at Siliguri tested positive. She was admitted at DESUN hospital, for some Covid like symptoms. There her swab test was taken and she tested positive. She is admitted at Dr. Chhang’s SS Covid hospital.

So far Sikkim 's tally of confirmed cases with these two is 4.

Test lab approved: One private diagnostic centre having a laboratory in Siliguri is permitted to perform TrueNAT (TruenatTM beta CoV test on TruelabTM workstation validated by ICMR recommended as a screening test for Covid-19) test for the Covid-19 detection, it will start functioning from 13th June. As per the Anandaloke Sonoscan Centre is approved to do the test charging fees.  

NBMCH

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 June 2020: 

10 patients with symptoms similar to Covid-19:  Presently patients admitted with symptoms similar to Covid 19 in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital are- 1 patient in Isolation ward –I and 3 adults and 3 child patients are admitted in isolation ward of surgical department. In gynecological isolation ward 3 are admitted.

DESUN (SARI)

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 June 2020: 

In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital at Kawakhali, 49 patients are admitted of which 11 are in ICU. 

1 patient of Darjeeling and 2 of Kalimpong are admitted here.

Covid hospital: In Dr. Chhang’s Super Speciality Covid -19 hospital 55 patients are admitted. Rest of those detected today will be admitted by tomorrow. All doctors and patients are keeping well.

GTA

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 June 2020: 

12 patients of GTA area are in the Dr. Chhang’s SSC hospital. (2 of Sonada, 2 of Kurseong, 1 of Mirik, 2 of Kalimpong and 5 of Sukiapokhari)

The number of people in home quarantine in the district of Darjeeling is 2484 and in Kalimpong district it is 1163 altogether in GTA it is 3647. 

Altogether there are 440 persons in institutional facility quarantines.

STATE 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 June 2020: Todays report states a record highest spike of increase in new cases and active cases.

In the state 368 new cases (1 day before-340, 2 days before- 396) as well as  10 death (1 day before-10, 2 days before-10) and 188 recovery (1 day before-170, 2 days before-104) is recorded today.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 6876 (1 day before-6508, 2 days before-6168) while active cases is 3753 (1 day before-3583, 2 days before-3423). The death toll from the disease till now is 283 (1 day before-273, 2 days before-263) while there is 72 death due to Co-morbidity.

After recovery of the infection 2768 (1 day before-2580, days before-2410) are released from the hospital and the rate of recovery has increased to 40.25%

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 41, ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 9606 (1 day before-9499, 2 days before-9495) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 241831 (1 day before-232225, 2 days before-222726) till now since day 1.

Today 148359 persons (1 day before-148287, 2 days before-146538) are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 246981 persons (1 day before-244828, 2 days before-241236) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance.

Number of people released from home quarantine was 98622 (1 day before-96541, 2 days before-94698).

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are       20662 persons (1 day before-18525, 2 days before-17804) and so far from these centres 57940 persons (1 day before-5618, 2 days before-54421) were released after recovery.
