India- fatality rate 3.23%: recovery rate 34.06%... mobile phone is a potential carrier of Covid -19

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 15 May 2020: On the 52nd  day (10th day of the 3rd phase) of the lockdown globally, over 43.45 lakh and COVID-19 related death tally is nearing 3 lakh mark.

As many as 1,640 foreign TablighiJamaat members from 47 countries were in India at the time of Nizamuddin Markaz gathering, of whom only 64 tested COVID19 positive and two more died of the virus: Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.  reported  PTI.

Nepal reports 9 new cases; total infections goes upto 258.

Over 1,000 Indians stranded in Banke and Bardiya districts of Nepal because of the lockdown were handed over to Indian authorities at Rupaideeh on the Indo-Nepal border here, a senior official said on Friday.

As many as 723 Nepalese, who were in different shelter homes for quarantine on this side of the border, were also handed over to Nepalese authorities, Bahraich District Magistrate Shambhu Kumar said. The exchange of Indian and Nepalese citizens took place on Thursday night in the presence of SP Vipin Mishra and senior officers of the Sashatra Seema Bal along with Nepalese officials, the DM said. Most of these Indians belong to Bahraich and other districts of Uttar Pradesh and other states, the DM said, adding those coming from Nepal have been kept in shelter homes in Bahraich and are being screened.  In Maharashtra, a 94-year-old woman was discharged from the Miraj Hospital in Sangli yesterday, after completely recovering from COVID-19, as per ANI report.

A group of doctors from AIIMS, Raipur have recommended restrictions on use of mobile phones in healthcare institutions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, warning that such devices can be a potential carrier of the virus and lead to infection among healthcare workers. 

Ministry of Railways, Government of India has run 1,000 ShramikSpecial trains so far to take migrants home; over 12 lakh passengers transported Railways ready to run 300 Shramik Special trains per day to transport more than 4 lakh stranded persons per day.

Within the last 24 hours, the followings data on Covid-19 in the country is recorded;  death 100 (1 day before-134, 2 days before-122) taking the death toll to  2649 (1 day before-2549, 2 days before-2415) and 3967  (1 day before-3722, 2 days before-3525) new cases, has been recorded in the whole country. Confirmed cases  81970 (1 day before-78003, 2 days before-74281) and 51401 (1 day before-49219, 2 days before-47598) active cases are recorded today.  

Today 27919 (1 day before-26235, 2 days before-24386) have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. 

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state of the country with 27524 (1 day before-25922, 2 days before-24427) confirmed cases and  1019 (1 day before-975, 2 days before-921) deaths and 6059 (1 day before-5547, 2 days before-5125) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 9591 (1 day before-9267, 2 days before-8903) confirmed cases and 586 (1 day before-566, 2 days before-537) death and 3753 (1 day before-3562, 2 days before-3246) recovery and release from Hospital. 

The next is Tamilnadu which has exceeded the record of Delhi with 9674 (1 day before-9227, 2 days before-8718) confirmed cases and 66 (1 day before-64, 2 days before-61) death and 2240 (1 day before-2176, 2 days before-2134) recovery.

The next is Delhi with 8470 (1 day before-7998, 2 days before-7639) confirmed cases and 115 (1 day before—106, 2 days before-86) death and 3045 (1 day before-2858, 2 days before-2512) recovery.
