GTA has decided that all people coming from outside states be sent for compulsory institutional quarantine and cumpulsory swab tests willl be done to all. Only after the results of the swab test, they will be either given Home Quarantine, if negative otherwise those testing positive will be sent to Level I of COVID & SARI Hospital, in Triveni.
Anit Thapa, chairman of the GTA has stated that for all the people traveling back to the GTA region, it is compulsory to enter their details prior to their journey in the website: http://gtadmin.org/citizen-corner/gta-travel-details-form
GTA has framed a strict entry and exit deadline so that people are not allowed to travel in the restricted time and keeping in mind the health of the health workers, entry timing for the people who are returning back is resticted within a fixed time, so that health workers are not overworked and exhausted.
Those arriving after the cut off time would be kept in shelters arranged by GTA around Siliguri.
Anit Thapa, chairman of the GTA in a statement has requested all the people of GTA to be open-minded and acceptable of all the people coming back home. He has sated, "As they are brothers and sisters, we shouldn't discriminate. We also want people to not create problems with regards to Quarantine facilities if anyone is worried about getting contaminated, I suggested please don't go near the facility."
He has added " No matter if the lockdown has been relaxed by the Government of India, we need to understand the Coronavirus issue is not over and it is here to stay for some more time. It is we who need to accept it and modify our lifestyle to fight it. So, let us work together to fight the disease, not the people, maintain social distancing, wash our hands regularly, disinfect ourselves often, wear masks & gloves and go out of the house only if necessary."
