2 dead patient at DESUN tests negative…. 1 died at NBMCH…1 Covid-19 positive patient tests negative… Containment zone of Kalimpong Municipality and Siliguri MC is withdrawn… 66 in institutional and 1358… home quarantine

DAILY REPORT 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 15 May 2020: Declaration of containment zone in some areas of Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts is withdrawn: Ward no 11,12 and ward nos. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12,,13 & 14 of Kalimpong Municipality were declared as Containment zone and Buffer zone respectively, but since today this declaration is withdrawn from today. Vide memo no. 25 Con dated 17 April 2020 these areas were declared as Containment and Buffer zone and the same is withdrawn today by the order of the District Magistrate of Kalimpong.

Similarly ward numbers 40, 41, 42 and 43 of Siliguri municipal corporation jurisdiction and area falling within Ektiasal sub center of Dabgram II GP of Rajganj Block are free of containment zone classification. In the official order it is said that as per instruction vide Memo No. 286/Health/DM.Jal dated 19/04/2020, the area within a radius of 3 Kms, around the house where these confirmed COVID cases resided before the detection, viz., the areas falling under were declared as Containment Zone for taking special steps for containment of further spread of the infection, the declaration of Containment Zone, in the areas stated above, falling within Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Rajganj Block, is hereby withdrawn, subject to the continuation of all the standard restrictions which are in force, pertaining to other areas, in view of COVID-19 situation. 

Containment classification to another area under ward no 47 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation under Darjeeling district is also withdrawn. But the area of Shantiniketan housing Complex of Shrusuta nagar, of Matigara block in the Darjeeling district is not withdrawn and  continues to remain in the Containment Zone. 

NORTH BENGAL 

DESUN Hospital

2 dead patient tests negative: A patient of Mungpoo who died at DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) hospital, yesterday tested negative and the body is handed over to the relatives.

Another patient of a tea garden of Bagdogra also had died yesterday, he also tested negative. So far nine death is reported in this hospital but all tested negative to Covid-19.

There are 17 patients in this hospital and swab tests of 14 has been done. 

As all 4 patients are released, there is 1 patient each from Darjeeling and Kalimpong district .. 

Dr. Chang's SSH

1 Covid-19 positive patient tests negative: One of the six patients admitted at Dr. Chang’s Super specialty Covid-19 Hospital has tested negative. There are 6 Covid-19 positive patients and one of them is from Barobhisa of Alipurduar district who tested negative and if his next test also comes to be negative then he will be released. There are 2 more Covid-19 positive patients of Alipurduar. Others are 1 doctor of NBMCH (resident of Kolkata), 1 of Malda and 1 driver from Chennai.

NBMCH

1 died at NBMCH: 1 patient of New Jalpaiguri admitted somedays back in the Isolation ward of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital died this morning. His swab test resulted negative.

1 tests negative: There are 2 patients in the Isolation ward 1 at NBMCH. 2 are at Isolation ward 2. Another 2 females are admitted in the gynecological Isolation ward of NBMCH. One of them is from Islampur and has travel history and was a suspected case but her CB-NAAT test resulted to negative. 

Of the 6, one is from Kumlai Tea Garden of Jalpaiguri and another is from Phansidewa. They have symptoms of respiratory problem similar to Covid-19.  

5 new patients are admitted today.

GTA 

66 patients in institutional and 1358 in home quarantine: At institutional quarantine centre of ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district, 20 more persons are admitted, that tally 34 persons. 12 persons are admitted at Batasia TB centre, that tally 14 and 13 admitted in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong that tally 16. At Pokhriabong PHC 2 are admitted. 66 patients are now in 4 different institutional quarantines.

With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in home quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 648 to 782 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 437 to 576. Altogether there are 1358 persons are in home quarantine. 

Those who recently came by train from different states are now kept in the institutional quarantines till their swab test result confirms their negative to Covid-19. Swab testing is started since today.   

STATE

In the state  new cases 84 (1 day before-87, 2 days before- 117) and 10  death (1 day before-8, 2 days before-89) and 61 recovery (1 day before-66, 2 days before-90) is recorded today.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 2461  (1 day before-2377, 2 days before-2290) while active cases is 1407 (1 day before-1394, 2 days before-1381) and death toll till now is 153  (1 day before-143, 2 days before-135). 

There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 829 (1 day before-768, 2 days before-702) are released after recovery. 

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 21 ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today  6706 (1 day before-5205, 2 days before-5010) samples within 24 hour were tested that tall 69543 (1 day before-62837, 2 days before-57632) till now since day 1.

Today 45681 (1 day before-34414, 2 days before-26357) persons are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total persons 115280 (1 day before-103493, 2 days before-94956) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance. 

Number of people released from home quarantine was  (1 day before-69079, 2 days before-68599). 

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 8882 (1 day before-8980, 2 days before-8146) persons and so far from these centres 24389 (1 day before-22696, 2 days before-21794) persons were released in the past. 

Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
