8 patients tests positive again.... Kalimpong lady who died last night tests negative... All 27 doctors and medical staff tests negative twice..

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 7 May 2020: One female patient of Kalimpong admitted in the maternity ward of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, who died last night tested negative to Covid-19.. 
Since 2nd April 2020 there is not a single case in Kalimpong district and the last case of Darjeeling district was reported on 14th April.
The expectant lady patient of Kalimpong was having respiratory illness and admitted yesternight in serious condition in the Isolation ward of NBMCH. But she died in the night and her swab test for Covid 19 was done and she tested negative and the body was handed over to her family members.
Today a Covid 19 patient of Coochbehar is admitted in Malda Covid hospital. While tracing his contacts it was reported that he had been to Mungpoo and worked there as a mason under a contractor. His travel history and contacts starting from Mungpoo via Alipurduar, Coochbehar to Kokrajhar of Assam is being traced out. 

DAILY REPORT 

NORTH BENGAL 
One new case from Malda (3rd patient of the district) is admitted at Malda, who earlier tested negative but the second test taken after completion of quarantine period resulted positive. He is a member of the family whose members are already admitted at NBMCH. 

All the 8 Covid-19 patients being treated at Dr. Chang's Super specialty Covid 19 Hospital located at Siliguri tested positive in their second test. They are stable since day 1 and belong to other areas outside North Bengal.



The 8 are, an eye specialist doctor of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (resident of Kolkata), 4 of a family (1 of Kamakhyaguri and 1 of Barobisha of Alipurduar and 2 are residents of Coochbehar), 2 from Malda and 1 ambulance driver of Chennai who drove a person on 27 April from Chennai to Tripura via Assam and on his return was stopped at Dhupguri and tested positive. 

Both tests of all 27 co-traveller doctors and nurses tested negative, they may be released only after the third test coming negative. They are kept in Amit Agarwala quarantine centre near NBMCH.

Of the 2 patients admitted in the maternity ward of NBMCH, 1 expectant mother is suspected to have Covid 19 symptoms and waiting for her test result for confirmation.

In Desun (SARI) Hospital 14 persons are under observation/ treatment. 
There are two patients from Kalimpong and Darjeeling district.
Several suspected people coming from other states and reaching north Bengal are admitted in different government designated Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) hospitals but test result of all came to be negative.

GTA 



3 new people coming from other states are admitted at quarantine centres of Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district at ITI Institute. 
In Batasia TB centre, 1 and in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong, 3 persons are kept for quarantine. 
In Desun (SARI) Hospital one patient of Gorubathan is released today, he was admitted on 4th May.
In Desun Hospital, 1 patient from Rangli Tea Estate of Darjeeling district is admitted today.
With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in self quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 182 to 295 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 150 to 193. 

STATE 
A low-priced COVID-19 testing kit designed by a group of researchers in West Bengal has received the approval of ICMR, and would soon be employed to examine samples, an official statement said on Thursday.
In the state 92 (yesterday-62) new cases and 7 (yesterday-4) death is recorded today and the total number of confirmed Covid-19 in West Bengal is 1548 (yesterday 1456) while active cases is 1101 (yesterday-1047) and death toll till now is 79. There is 72 death due to Comorbidity while 296 (yesterday 265) are released after recovery.

The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 17 (3 new) ICMR testing labs has been increasing testing of samples at a very good rate and today 2611 (yesterday 2570) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 32752 (yesterday-30141) till now since day 1. 

A total of 9618 (yesterday-9663) persons are under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and 75083 (yesterday-74638) persons have been home quarantined while 65465 (yesterday-64975) people were released from home quarantine. 

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are, 4757 (yesterday-4604) persons and so far from these centres, 17610 (yesterday-17244) persons were released in the past.  
Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid 19 hospitals.

INDIA 
Today is the India’s nationwide lockdown's 44th day or the 4th day of the 3rd phase of lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased in non-hotspot areas from today. 

In the last 24 hours, 89 deaths (yesterday it was 126) and 3561 (yesterday-2680) new cases, has been recorded taking the death toll to 1783 (Yesterday-1694) (+89) in the whole country. Have surged to 52952 confirmed cases (yesterday it was 49391) and 35902 (Yesterday it was 33514) active cases. 

Today 1074 people that tally 15267 (yesterday -14182) (+1085) have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. 

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 16758 (yesterday- 15525) (+1233) cases and 651 (yesterday-617) (+34) deaths and 3094 (yesterday 2465) (+629) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 6625 (yesterday-6245 (+380) confirmed cases and 396 (yesterday-368) (+28) death and 1500 (yesterday-1381) (+119) recovery and release from Hospital. 

The next is Delhi with 5532 (yesterday 5104) (+428) confirmed cases and 65 death (+1) and 1542 (yesterday 1468) (+74) recovery.
