2 positive patients reported from Siliguri …Number of quarantine persons increase daily in GTA area… 136 persons in institutional and 1687 in home quarantine

DAILY REPORT 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18 May 2020: 

NORTH BENGAL 

2 Covid-19 positive patients in SIliguri: It has been reported today that 2 Covid -19 patients are admitted at Covid hospital in Siliguri. Both patients are from Siliguri Municipal Corporation area. A 48 year male of Dangipara -ward no. 6 and another 40 year old patient of Babupara of Deshbandhupara -ward no. 27 were admitted at Dr. Chang’s Super specialty Covid-19 Hospital. Resident of Babupara had a travel history to Kolkata and Guwahati while the 48 year old fruit vendor use to visit the local regulated market regulary to get fruits for his stall and didnot visit outside Siliguri since six months. But a  source said that he had recently visited Kota and on his return his swab test was done and relatives of the four family use to live jointly in the same house.
Similarly after return from Kolkata the other 40 year old was screened and swab test done. Both were directed to undergo home quarantine. Their swab test result for Covid-19 was received today by the district health authority this morning and today they were moved from their home quarantine to Dr. Chang's Covid hospital. Both the patient are asymptomatic. Their residential area is barricaded and sanitised at the same time their family members are also being brought to institutional quarantine centres. SARI

In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital, there are 11 patients who are waiting for their next test result. More than 20 were released yesterday.

2 patients of Kalimpong district also were released. 

COVID-19 HOSPITAL

There are 6 Covid-19 patients at Dr. Chang’s Super specialty Covid-19 Hospital. One of the six patients who hails from Barobhisa of Alipurduar district and a patient of Malda admitted here has tested negative thrice. Both though tested negative could not be released due to some official confirmation as their result is not uploaded in VDRL site. There are 2 more Covid-19 positive patients of Alipurduar. Others are 1 doctor of NBMCH (resident of Kolkata), and 1 driver from Chennai. 

NBMCH

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18 May 2020:  Patients admitted in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) with symptoms similar to Covid-19 are usually transferred to isolation ward. Those patients after testing negative to Covid-19 tests are again transferred from isolation ward to their respective wards.

Presently there is 1 patient in the surgical Isolation ward and a female admitted in the gynecological Isolation ward of NBMCH. She is from Darjeeling district and was related with materinity problem.

All have symptoms of respiratory problem similar to Covid-19 and their test result is awaited. 

GTA 

136 persons are in institutional and 1687 in home quarantine: 

At institutional quarantine centre of ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district, 16 more persons are admitted, that tally 65 persons. 

In DISHA of Kalimpong, 14 new persons are admitted.

In ITI at Takdah 3 persons are quarantined.

23 persons are admitted at Batasia TB centre. 

15 are admitted in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong. 

At Pokhriabong PHC 16 are admitted. 

Within GTA area 136 patients are now in 6 different institutional quarantines. 

With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in home quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 782 to 1011 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 667 to 676. Altogether there are 1687 (yesterday 1449) persons are in home quarantine. Those who recently came by train from different states are now kept in the institutional quarantines till their swab test result confirms their negative to Covid-19. Swab testing is started since today.

STATE 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 18 May 2020: In the state 148 new cases (1 day before-67, 2 days before- 115) and   death (1 day before-6, 2 days before-7) and 47 recovery (1 day before-67, 2 days before-63) is recorded today. The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 2825 (1 day before-2677, 2 days before-2576) while active cases is 1575 (1 day before-1480, 2 days before-1452) and death toll till now is 172 (1 day before-166, 2 days before-160).

There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 1006 (1 day before-959, 2 days before-892) are released after recovery. 

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 22 ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 7614 (1 day before 8668, 2 days before--7745) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 93570 (1 day before-85956, 2 days before-77288) till now since day 1.

Today 77235 (1 day before-57184, 2 days before-50258) persons are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 148474 persons (1 day before-127893, 2 days before-120347) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance. 

Number of people released from home quarantine was 71239 (1 day before-70709, 2 days before-70089). 

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 11571 (1 day before-10561, 2 days before-9667) persons and so far from these centres  29615 (1 day before-27740, 2 days before-25804) persons were released in the past. 

Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
