Quarantine Center inaugurated


KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 April 2020: Kalimpong has been declared a hotspot of Covid-19, by the state government after one 44 year lady died of Covid-19 and 11 persons tested positive to Covid 19 and 46 persons are kept in quarantine and isolation centres. For providing the control measures and equipments Anit Thapa, Chairman of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration gave special attention to Kalimpong and came to Kalimpong on 2nd April 2020 with a view to start a 40 beded quarantine centre in the District Hospital premises.
While in Kalimpong he himself was present to collect and distribute Covid 19 protective equipments and materials for the entire district hospitals and other departments as well as furnitures for the proposed quarantine centre. 
After completing the works yesterday he inaugurated a 30 beded quarantine centre at the old Superintendents quarter renovated for the office of the CMOH.10 more beds will be added later on in this centre. 
Till now in Kalimpong district, four quarantine centres are established. And 46 persons are under quarantine at two quarantine centres of Disha Centre and Marwari Bhavan. Other two centres are located at Youth Hostel, Deorali and ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan.



With the initiative of the GTA and Kalimpong Municipality a Community kitchen is started with four distribution point in Kalimpong town to provide packet lunch to the poor and needy persons as well as migrant labourers.

GTA also provided and distributed food materials to the poor people of different villages.
