Whatever The BJP Has Promised The BJP Has Always Delivered: Raju Bista, BJP Candidate

Wepen, March 29, 2019: The BJP – GNLF – GJM (Bimal Gurung faction) combine started campaigning in Kalimpong district on Friday. However Maurice Kalikotay, Member, Steering Committee, GNLF remained inconspicuous.

Incidentally Kalikotay on Thursday had called a meeting in Kalimpong. Going against party lines Kalikotay had stated that the BJP will have to pledge support to the VIthschedule demand and will have to pass a bill to include the Darjeeling Hills in the VIthSchedule of the Constitution, in the first session of Parliament. Then only would they support the BJP.

Reacting to this Neeraj Zimba, Spokesperson, GNLF stated, “There is only one GNLF, that is Maan Ghisingh GNLF. The statement of Maan Ghisingh and Spokesperson Niraj Zimba that only stands. There is no such thing as Kalimpong GNLF. There is only one GNLF. They have kept a demand, the party is trying to make them see reason.”

A clearly agitated Zimba then directed the reporters to direct questions at the BJP candidate. “Please abstain from asking irrelevant questions and small talk,” he retorted.

When quizzed on the fate of Gorkhaland, Bista stated, “Darjeeling has a long pending political issue and this time a political solution to this will definitely come out. Keep patience. Something will definitely come out.”  He stated that the BJP national manifesto is due in a few days following which the local manifesto will be made public.

He claimed that all the others in the fray already know that the BJP and the coalition team have already bagged the seat.

“If there is a nationalist party which does everything good for the Hills, that is the BJP and the BJP alone. Whatever the BJP has promised the party has delivered. There are ways of going about it. It is not necessary that the same issue is reiterated every time. This time the issue is clear, development and national security tops the chart. This area is sensitive and keeping national security in mind the party will act,” explained Bista.
