‘One family one job’ recruitment policy in Sikkim Govt., says Chamling

SUJAL PRADHAN,EOI, Gangtok, 30 Jul 2018: The Sikkim Government is going to follow a policy of ‘one family one job’ while recruiting people for government jobs, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling announced on Monday. “Today we have decided that we will recruit one person from a family which don’t have any government employee,” he said.
The Chief Minister was addressing the State Level Sammelan of Rural and Urban Local Bodies-2018 at Manan Kendra.
Till now, different government departments were recruiting random in a random manner in the muster roll and this had created a disparity. Now the departments should follow 'one family, one job' policy and they should ensure that each family should have one government employee.
He also informed that there were 28,000 registered unemployed in Sikkim now.
The Chief Minister appealed to the assembled panchayats to translate governmental directives in practice with full responsibility and accountability in their respective areas. The Mentioning about the existing powers of panchayats and the availability of facilities at the gram panchayat, he recalled his experiences of miserable environment in villages in the 1980s and shortages in mimimum needs.
“People's trust with the panchayati raj Institution is diminishing due to the irresponsibility of public representatives,” he said, marking it as a discouraging sign for democratic philosophy.
The Chief Minister declared a sanction of schemes worth Rs 1000 crore within the month of August 2018. In the context of Organic Mission, Chamling informed one stall would be awared to each gram panchayat unit in all districts. He urged the authorirties to operationalize tourism Infrastructure already established properly. “Panchayats should motivate educated youth in rural areas to apply for governmental loans under start-up schemes that will be subsidized upto 35 per cent,” he said.
