GTA asks Mamata to recall decision on Sukna & Sevoke police stations

EOI, DARJEELING, 30 Jul 2018: Gorkhaland Territorial Administration chairman Binoy Tamang said on Monday he had written to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to revise her decision to bring the Sukna and Sevoke police stations under the ambit of the Siliguri Commissionerate.
Sukna and Sevoke in the foothills fall under the jurisdiction of Kurseong sub-division. On July 11 the Bengal Chief Minister had announced in an administrative meeting in Cooch Behar that the Sukna and Svoke police stations would be brought under the Siliguri Commissionerate.
“I met the C.M. on July 21 and raised the issue placing our objection and requesting her to recall her decision to make the incorporation. She directed me to give a written objection which I did on July 24. Today again I am sending a letter to the CM about our demand. I
have also brought to her notice that negative rumours the are doing the rounds in social media platforms,” the GTA chairman said.
