Train service disrupted after flood like situation in North Bengal
EOI, 13 August 2017, Siliguri: Several trains bound for North Bengal from Sealdah and Howrah railway stations were terminated at various stations due to heavy rainfall and flood like situation in some stations.
Thousands of passengers showed anger before station managers after shortage of water and food since last night. Passengers opted to travel by buses to Siliguri after trains halted in various stations.
New Alipurduwar and New Jalpaiguri stations were affected as the entrance area were flooded with water.
While Kisanganj Railway station was flooded and no trains could enter the platform.
The statement issued by the railway authorities said that 12343 up Darjeeling Mail and 12377 up Padatik Express that left from Sealdah station on Saturday night were detained at Murarai and Chatra stations respectively. 13147 up Uttarbanga Express and 13149 up Kanchankanya Express were terminated at Malda Town.
On Sunday several trains including Teesta Torsa Express, Kanchankanya Express and others scheduled for NJP stations from Sealdah were cancelled.
