
Earthquake is inevitable

KalimNews, Jaldhaka, 6 June 2015: Two burning topics were discussed during the World Environment day observed by Jaldhaka Higher Secondary School today by inviting scientists from Paschim Banga Vigyan Manch.
The theme of this year was Green the blue. Prof. Amit Dasgupta, Geologist and Earthquake specialist spoke on Principles of Earthquake, Precursory signals and seismic activities in Nepal and North Bengal. He tried to highlight about the reason and process of earthquake, recording and measurement mechanism of seismic activity and epicentre as well as the magnitude.

Prof. Satyajit Chakraborti General Secretary of Paschim Banga Vigyan Manch spoke on the importance of greening the environment. and science and superstitious beliefs.Teachers Sagar Kharga gave a brief description of Paschim Vigyan Manch while Bikas Thapa gave a speech on Science and superstition.
Teacher Dinesh Sharma also made a power point presentation on Earthquake. Students presented poems and skits on environment conservation.
Prof. Sankar Kar, Asst. Secretary, PBVM highlighted on the importance of the day and the theme of the programme.

They also revealed through demonstrations on how magic are performed through tricks and chemical reactions.
During the programme toppers of Madhyamik Pariksha namely Mukesh Sharma and Kunal Pradhan and Higher Secondary Examinations namely Manju Katwal, Pradip Lohar, Ningma Lepcha, Tilak Prasad Sharma, Shyam Gurung, John Mark were felicitated.
The audience included, teachers and students of the school and members of Mahila Kalyan Mandal, Gairigaon and Ex President of the Managing Committee of the school.
