Would-be kidnappers thrashed, held
EOI, SILIGURI, 8 Nov 2016:
The Matigara police today registered a case of attempted kidnapping against three youths involving three girls students of Balika Vidyalaya in Matigara block near Siliguri. The suspects have been identified as Abhishek Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Abhay Tripathi of Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
The trio tried to kidnap Anita Pal and two of her friends near the Balasun bridge late in the afternoon today while the girls were returning home from school. The suspects first tried to force Anita inside a silver coloured car bearing a Bihar registration number and sporting a ‘Press’ sticker on the windshield. However, area locals were quick to react and succeeded in catching hold of the three would-be kidnappers and thrashing them soundly before letting the police take over.
Sanjay Ghosh, officer-in-charge of Matigara police station, said, “An inquiry has begun on the basis of the written complaint filed by Bijan Saha, one of the school teachers.”
